What scopes are you guys putting on your XP-100's?

A 2X Leupy on a 221FB leaves me wanting for more magnification.

I will be using it primarily for punching paper from 100-400yds.

If you have long arms, you may be able to use the Loopey 2.5-8 handgun scope. I don't and find the eye relief works better for me on a rear grip gun.

Leupold does have a fixed 4x as well, and Burris has a couple variations. You'll just have to juggle which ones work best for you.

Thanks for the pointers tex.

I do have long arms and the Leupold 2.5-8 was on my radar. I'll keep an eye out for for one.....unless you happen to have an extra you could spare..

I was initially thinking a 4X might work....however, I'm concerned it may not be enough at the 300-400 yard range.

Muddy - sounds like you were happy enough with the Burris to hang on to it....any downsides?

1919, Ya I do like it but one thing about it is that it has 1/8 inch clicks. It is very clear as is the 10X Burris EER scope I also have.-Muddy

It depends on the caliber. I had a 6.5x20 Leupold on a 223 center grip XP-100. It was responsible for 93 rock chucks in its first year of use. You located the chuck and then pulled your head back until you had about 8 inches of eye relief - you had a black donut with a cross hair on the chuck. This was shot off sandbags.

An XP-100 in a bigger cal works well with the 3x12 Burris pistol scope.

I'm a little late to the party but I have a T/C 2.5-7x on my center grip XP 100 7mm-08. It has never lost zero, even when I've taken the stock off a couple of times. They are no longer made but have a great reputation for reliability. Mine has the illuminated reticle which is a nice added feature.

If you check you will find that the Burris has more field of view than Leupold it makes it a little easier when being used for hunting..

Leupold M8 3X on one & Leupold 2.5-8 on the other.

on my .17 Viper I have a fixed 12X. your FB won't recoil enough to need a pistol scope

M1919: On my XP-100 in 223 Remington I have a Burris straight 10 (ten) power pistol scope.
I use it for Colony Varminting out to about 300 yards - and it is great at that.
According to my loading log book I have only shot it at the range out to 200 yards, but see no reason it would not suffice to 400 yards for you.
I do not believe Burris still makes this scope so you would have to look on the used markets for one.
Again I am very happy with this scope on my pistol.
In the past I have had both 2 power and 4 power scopes on my XP-100's in 221 Remington Fireball and I opine that they would have been more appealing to me and my uses with more scope power.
Sadly I have sold my XP-100's in 221 Remington Fireball and one I turned into a custom Rifle in 6m/m Remington Benchrest.
I see the nice and original XP-100's in 221 Remington Fireball are selling for big bucks these days.
Best of luck to you with whichever scope you choose.

I've been shooting scoped XPs and Contenders for years, and I would answer your question by saying that it depends...But since you state your main use will be punching paper, then if you're just going to shoot it off a bench using bags, I would suggest a Leupold fixed 12x rifle scope. That scope will offer enough magnification still have 3.5"-4" of eye relief and that's plenty for a low-recoil round like the 221FB in an XP when holding it close like one would a rifle.

If you intend to shoot the XP with your arms fully extended, both off the bench and in the field, then I recommend the Bushnell Elite 3200 2-6x. It's a very durable LER pistol scope that has LOTS of eye relief and the extra ER comes in handy from field positions. The Leupold EER 2.5-8x scope is also a good one but it doesn't really offer an 'arms length' amount of eye relief.

There are some high magnification 'intermediate' eye relief scopes that others have mentioned but I haven't found them to be particularly useful on my single shot handguns. I can't hold them at arms length and see much FOV through them. And I can't hold them cost like a rifle scope either. But they would be a better choice if you had an XP chambered in a round that produced significantly more recoil than the 221FB.

Pursuit may be, it seems to me, perfect without possession.

I liked my TC 2.5-7X.
Midway shows them still available, but pricey

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/5...cope-25-7x-28mm-centerplex-reticle-gloss

Got mine used, like new for $150.
Sold it as for deer I like a fixed 2X or red dot.

Will try reddot on my Super 14 .223, but ultimately that sight will end up on .357 mag or .35 Rem 14".
