So if you guys were starting to look and were going 3rd rifle, just looking for a shot a legal bull.
We have hunted the Taylor Mesa area, and saw elk it was 70 degrees though.
Is it still a good bet to hunt out of there or should we start looking someplace else?

Look at the season dates for 2016. They are about a week later, so you probably won't have that 70 degree weather

They are right in the middle of the Rut for bow here in NY. I'd rather hunt elk for a week and then come back here.

Glad to see 3rd starts 11/5. That means two things: a) son-in-law #1 will be able to go if he chooses (no schedule conflicts) b) Better chance for the migration to start in earnest
with a little luck there will be 4 of us - two sons-in-law and one daughter.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

Not super stoked on the later season dates as far as my deer tag (hopefully) is concerned, that 1-2 week difference might have the bucks out of velvet and down in the timber instead of up in tundra. BUT....good chance of being closer to the better part of the rut for elk.
for 3rd and 4th rifle, hopefully that helps out with weather and migration
