Congratulations! Beautiful animals. Looks like a fantastic hunt! Was Bongo a consideration for you on this hunt? That's the one animal I would try for if I ever got over in that neck of the woods. The Lord Derby you took is fantastic, by the way! Well done. I would love to hunt one of those buffs, too. Any more details on the rifles used, length of trip, who you hunted with, etc. would be appreciated.

Would love to do bongo but they are in a different part of the country from the area we hunted. Maybe someday.... don't tell the wife!

I hunted with Northern Operations Africa on Faro East's Zone 5 concession.

PH was Thierry Labat whom I've hunted with in Zimbabwe several times before. I cannot imagine anyone being better than him.

I used a Sako Model 85 375 H&H Hunter stainless topped with an illuminated Leupold VX-6 2x-12x42 mm shooting Federal Swift A-frames 300 grain.

I absolutely love this rifle and it shoots lights out.

It was a good trip and an interesting country but not an area I'd take my wife or kids to just for security reasons.

Nice trophy!!

Never saw one in Cameroon. Didn't see giant forest hog in the rain forest either.

Glad Boko Harem didn't get you!! smile

PS, Did you have either the filets or liver from the Laord Darby? Fine, fine eating.

Tom,

It wasn't hot at all. I was very surprised.

Probably upper 70's to lower 80's for highs and it was downright chilly in the morning.

I was expecting upper 90's and tough conditions and was very pleasantly surprised. Apparently February gets hotter but it was dang nice hunting conditions.

Similar to hunting Zim or Namibia in June/July which really surprised me.

It was a very interesting hunt in a different part of Africa.

Hope you are well!

Chris

Good to hear!

Ive thought about Burkina Faso, but the stuff I see with guys hunting there and Cameroon were always temps in triple digits! eek

Glad you lucked out...in more ways than one! Excellent trophy quality across the board!

I almost feel a little guilty for planting little Africa seeds in your head years ago.......almost! grin

Dats a big 10-4! grin

Hell my trophies are a tiny smattering compared to yours, but guys bring their wives over to the house to show them how lucky they are only a couple deer heads get hung up! laugh

The wives usually bitch" I can't believe your wife lets you hang this stuff up all over the house!"

" Hell....half of it is her stuff!" laugh
