We don't lose elections by lost kook votes. We lose them by lost base votes. That depends on how big that kook population is on voting day. I'm beginning to think that the Trumpistas, which appear to be a fair % of the GOP vote, will cry foul, fix, unfair, etc., when the Donald doesn't get the nomination. & stay home..........& that's enough kooks to make a pretty big distance. MM Red states the last go around will be red states this go around. So apparently to kook convention that is need are in some of the blue states, which are mostly Yankee states. Therefore, Yankees are kooks. See how easy that is. Lumping the folks we need to win this, in whatever form it takes, into "yankees" or "dour southern secessionists" or what-have-you, is not much of a winning formula. It's time to 'suck it up, Buttercup' and get this done. We can disagree all we want right now as long as we can 'agree to agree' when the sorting is done. As far as I'm concerned, it's real simple: make a list of all 20 choices- or however many there are. Put them in order from best to worst (IYO). Cross 'em off as they drop off. Vote for the top of your list in the general election. It ain't rocket science.

You might make it easier for me to answer your question. Top pediatric neurosurgeon on the planet. Led teams of the best specialists in life and death cases on a daily basis. I've already said he's the only one I've supported to any degree, and because I met/knew him before he started running and found him to be a good, decent man. Carson won't win. No big deal. Question stands; in Nov., it's the R nominee vs Hitlery or Sanders - what is your choice then? Me? I'm voting R whether it's Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Christie, Carson, Fiorina, or a schit eating dog (that might be Jeb...) Any of them are better than Hitlery or Sanders. What is your choice at that point? Same here! Ben Carson is a class act and has really been my choice from day one. But as you say he will not be elected. He handled the assumed IOWA incident in a very professional manner. Just wants folks to do the right thing. We could all learn something from this man.

Statistics say otherwise.
The "stay at home" vote gave Hussein several states, and the elections. The Paulistas were part of that, as were the hard core Bible thumpers.
Please tell me those states and how they changed the elections. VA, PA, and FL. Those three swung the election. Check the numbers of Rs that stayed home in each. While I can't vouch for the map below, if correct, it looks to me like those three states going red would not have changed the outcome of the 2012 election because the red still falls 2 votes short. It also fails to take into account that a change in candidate that brings out the alleged "solid conservative base" can peel off some of the centrists. We never heard a word about it and I'm in Des Moines. I don't believe it was widespread. I watched the count and there were 3 votes for Ben in my precinct.
