I have seen this several times when installing the CCI400 primers in a 223 case. Once in the case rubbing your finger over the primer there are some sharp edges along the edge of the primer. It is as if the primer side got deformed a little. And yes the sharp edge is slightly above the case head. Have any of you seen this? This does not happen with Winchester and Remington primers.

Have you prepped the pockets at all, or are these milsurps? If you feel sharp, you're shaving.

I've used CCI400s for years in .22 Hornet, .222, and .223. With regard to .223, the only brass I have used has been commercial Federal and Remington. Never tried the military stuff.

I've seen that when I don't get the primer pocket crimp out of the 5.56 or .223 cases. A chamfer tool or swage is your friend here. The cci's I've used are slightly larger than the others, and will catch on remaining crimp.
