HOF inductions -

Stabler (WAY overdue, only QB with multiple SB wins that wasn't in; numbers almost identical to Griese);
Stanfel (another WAY overdue)
DeBartolo (yeah, makes sense)
Dungy (meh, okay, I get it)
Marvin Harrison (probably deserves it, but there are others at least as good or better that should get in first or already be in)
Kevin Greene (OVERDUE)
Orlando Pace (deserved, but not before Joe Jacoby)
Brett Favre (first ballot, as it should be)

Don Coryell, Joe Jacoby, Morton Anderson, Steve Atwater, and Terrell Owens should have been inducted this year. Their impact were undeniable

Defensive Player of the Year -

J.J. Watt. Incredible; in his FIFTH season he has three DPOY Awards tying him with Lawrence Taylor for the most ever. Fans of the game are watching one of the greatest ever at his position every time he takes the field. Enjoy it; it will be gone before we know it.

Coach of the Year -

Rivera. Makes sense. He was damned near fired last season; this season is 15-1 and in SB50.

MVP -

Cam Newton. Almost impossible to argue with this selection, though Palmer and Brady could have made it a closer vote by actually winning playoff games (or in Palmer's case, NOT blowing one in epic fashion) when they had the chance. Having him prattle on about being "an African American QB" is getting really damned old, though.

Comeback Player of the Year -

Eric Berry. From fighting lymphoma last season to a finalist for DPOY this year? Yeah, no brainer.

Offensive Rookie of the Year -

Todd Gurley. No contest.

Defensive Rookie of the Year -

Marcus Peters, KC CB. First CB to win in 17 years, since Charles Woodson. Yeah, he's that damned good.

Assistant Coach of the Year -

Wade Phillips. Long thought washed up and done, his defense is why the Broncos are in the SB.

Walter Payton Man of the Year Award -

Anquan Boldin. "Work off the field", whatever that means, but it isn't well known.

Sportmanship Award -

Charles Woodson. Fitting to a guy that always played the game the right way in his last season.

Shame the Snake ain't around for it.

I think Stablers record for Super Bowl wins was one, the 77 Super Bowl.

Boldin has a massive charity that is very active. http://www.q81.org. He was a very involved in charities when he was in Baltimore.

Stabler should have been inducted into the HOF 30 years ago and its an absolute travesty Don Coryell isn't in the HOF. The same can be said for excluding Joe Jacoby.

Terrible Owens has the career numbers to make him a HOF'er but him being a major headcase/diva may keep him out for years.

As a life long and tortured Vikes fan, I remember that game very well.

You are correct. I had Stabler's SB wins mixed up with the OTHER Raiders QB that should already be in the HOF: Jim Plunkett. Two SB wins and a SB MVP. Career numbers essentially identical to Namath, but with a better playoff record and 2 SB wins to Namath's one.

I think Owens was a douche as a person and as a teammate, but he's second all time in every meaningful receiving category behind only Rice. If he had kept his mouth shut and been a better team player, he'd have owned the record books.

Owens is flat broke...which was very predictable. He finished his career in the arena league. Lol.

He was long over due, he was a great quarterback.

Joe "Jake" Jacoby should have gone. He owned the line during his greatest years and has 3 rings to support.

Way to go Woodson!!

Congrats Cam and Stabler!!

For the most part they got it right.

Joe Jacoby, Jim Plunkett and Morton Anderson definitely deserve a place in the HOF.

The case for Mr D.
Aside the winningest record in the 80s and 90s, and 5 Lombardi's.

“You have to have some sort of significant contribution to the game and to the league,” Mariucci said. “He certainly has had that. He’s been deserving for a long time. I think other owners looked at him and saw how to build an organization from top to bottom.”
Steve Young took Mariucci’s comments a step further, referencing the players’ strike in 1987. Young spoke about the discord between owners and players at the time, and how it was DeBartolo who dared to do things differently.
“During the strike, (an owner) said, ‘Sooner or later these players are going to realize that we’re the owners and they’re the cattle,’” Young explained. “Eddie completely ripped up that narrative. He and his players were family. To this day, if you need something from Eddie, anyone from the team could call him. He would find a way to help you.
“You can’t begin to write the history of the NFL without talking about what he did for the game. And that’s away from the five Super Bowls and all the other stuff.”
The Hall of Fame quarterback said DeBartolo changed the relationship between the two sides forever and helped the players become lasting partners with the owners. That relationship is exhibited through the work of the NFL Players Association and is highlighted during negotiations of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
“That partnership was forged by Eddie breaking down the barriers between players and owners,” Young said. “Look at any thriving owner today. They may not say that Eddie influenced them, but Eddie broke the ice for owners to have that type of relationship with their players.”
Eric Davis was one more voice of support for DeBartolo. The 49ers selected Davis in the second round of the 1990 NFL Draft and played in the Bay Area for six seasons. The cornerback famously had a pick-six against the Dallas Cowboys in the 1994 NFC Championship game and recorded another interception in Super Bowl XXIX against the San Diego Chargers.
“I don’t have a vote, but if I did, he’d be in,” Davis said. “I don’t have anything other than love for the man. There’s no way you can talk about the history of the NFL without talking about Eddie DeBartolo. You simply can’t.”
Davis echoed Young’s sentiments about the family environment created by DeBartolo within the 49ers organization.
“He built a system from the ground up in which everyone was treated with mutual respect,” Davis said. “The groundskeeper was treated like the starting quarterback. When he said he’d do anything for you, he meant it. When he said you were family, you were. You ate at his table.”

He gave away a lot of turkeys at Christmas when he was in Phoenix, and had some community programs going.

Terral Davis should have made it in!
