I'm not a side by side guy. Have owned a couple low/middle level versions; 311, Browning SxS, Ithaca SKB 100...just never been able to bond with any. Most of the older ones I pick up have too much drop in the comb and 12 gauges seem way too bulky.

Today I got to shoot some clay targets with a 16 gauge Winchester Model 24. Liked how trim it was and most importantly it really fit me well particularly the comb height, Shot quite well with it although I am not used to an automatic safety and that two trigger thing is difficult for me to run.

No particular point to the thread other than it was an interesting shotgun not often encountered and it functioned okay and shot even better for me. I've read some of the 'net knocks on it's mechanical issues but this one extracted okay.

I shot a 12ga M24 quite a bit when I was a kid. My uncle payed a whole $25 for it at a farm auction. He wouldn't sell it to me but I was allowed to borrow it anytime I wanted to. I killed a bunch of birds with it but I'd be lying if I said I never had trouble with the extractors. Some brands of shells were worse than others but it was almost a given that you'd stick one every now and again. The antenna on the pickup never failed to knock them loose.

I had a 16 ga Model 24 for a while and shot it pretty well. I could just never get use to the double trigger thing, and traded it in on a Remington 870.

Good trade. But the Model 21, now that was a sweet SxS. I think O'Conner used one of those. Really can't go wrong with an 870W/M tho.
