I'll ask the couple of guys I've already chatted with to hold back for a day or two while we see what the rest of you see and think of this one.

Checkered late 1899H in 22HP.

Side mount holes, swivel in butt stock, Joe.

Seems like a wood refinish and added checkering, but I'm guessing. Wood looks nice though. Metal condition doesn't match wood condition in my eyes, so overall it's nothing special to me.

Is the checkering added? Check page 6:

Look at the cheeks, border is the wrong size. I'd automatically be suspicious of the authenticity of it.

I thought the same thing, wood looks too good, especially the checkering. Butt plate seems to be larger than the surrounding wood, like its too big.

Extra holes on side, look good though. Any chance those are factory?

Make it easy to see. And remember this is a 1919'ish gun compared to the 1900 catalog, which was still showing pictures of 1895's.

for comparison, 1899A, 1902 production. I don't think I have a photo of the later variation of this pattern but it still had the flames at the front of the forearm checkering.

RORY
Tnx For Sharing, It is a Original Pattern Based On one I have, How Ever, My Opinion Refinished Wood, Rechecked, and The Line on Forearm at top of Checkering is to Close to top of Wood on Forarm.
The Wood Fit Fit to Receiver on tangs is almost Flush,, Looking at Photo's.
MY Opinion.
Tnx for letting my 2 cents in.

Original or not, I think it's cool if the price is right. Sometimes like women, they can be cute if just a little on the trashy side.

Rear sight is an oddball. Can't see front sight.

Wood is clearly redone.

But...is the price really over the top for what it is??

Nobody has looked close at the top of the receiver... Hint, hint.

OK...

No good pics of the top of the gun but I don't see any tang sight holes - maybe. We've seen guns without them before.

Well, at least now we have something to talk about....

Can't see top of receiver.

Nice gun, but it has clearly been worked on as others have previously noted.

Rear sight is from a Winchester 22, it was standard on their 1903 semi-auto and possibly other models like the early single shots. Tang sight holes are there, you can just see the tops of the plug screws in the view Rory posted.

That specific picture only shows one, but it's d&t for 2 holes by the cocking indicator. Front of the receiver doesn't look d&t. So Weaver T7 like holes on the side, and 2 standard d&t holes at the rear. Which is an odd setup..

Which is really just a side one. The checkering is much more interesting. Anybody own a gun with that exact style?
