Been wanting one of these to go with my Hornet, and finally opportunity and resources came together. I really wanted a .357, but they're much scarcer, and this .44 was NIB and has some of the best wood I've seen. It was pricey, but sometimes you just have to throw caution to the winds. These are the auction pics.

Very nice!
Thanks for sharing
I hope you shoot it and enjoy it, not keep it in the cardboard confines

There are no virgins whatsoever at my house. Guns are for shootin'.

NIB just means any dings it has will be my dings.

Correction: I suppose my Lab is technically a virgin, though not for lack of trying.

Nice. Is it twisted for cast or jacket bullets or have you determined that yet?

1-20 according to every source I've found. That's Brian Pearce's preference for a .44, and he knows his stuff, and is a major cast-bullet user. He's been hammering Marlin for years about going to 1-20.

You're right about Brian. He's a fountain of knowledge and is happy to discuss stuff with anyone who walks up. I met him a few years ago at SHOT. A great guy and a real delight to talk to.

No problem at all. I decided a good while ago that a .44 mag handgun had very little utility around here, for me anyway. Deer are small and bears pretty scarce. My J-frame .38 and a 4" 7-shot L-frame are about all I need, along with .22s, of course.

I have been pondering one of those optics-ready 10mm Glocks a bit for close-up treestand work, but this new one ought to cool my jets for a bit. Probably complicates the Big Gun Grab-fest my sons will have when I go under too!

Very Very Cool I might even sell a #1 to own one like that ... Actually I'd sell one in a heartbeat , great wood , . Waiting to hear how it shoots. That's very nice.

I checked my ammo pile and found half a box of Winchester softpoints along with some handloads I put together for my last .44 rifle, a 77/44. That one was traded in on my other Low Wall, the Hornet. Gives me about 90 rounds to play with before I need to start pulling the handle.

Gotta put in a plug for the seller, Barry Browning (!) of Shooting Investments. Don't know where he finds them, but he comes up with some really good stuff. He sold me a really fine A5 Light Twelve a few weeks ago that was about as nice as a 50 year-old shotgun can be. Always has some drooling material on hand, and not just Brownings.

Thanks for the kind words, fellers.

You're right about that! He's a full grown man and his hands are like softball mitts.

Great looking rifle, Pappy. That one has style.

Good thing, as I've got none whatsoever.
