Hi Guys,
We have set up a shop in Sedona AZ and are considering making a genuine Farquharson styled under lever, trigger guard very similar to what is used on my Soroka rifles, for Ruger No1's.

We will also be able to supply with this a stock that is basically a pattern of my single shot stock in any grade of wood you like for Grade 3 Turkish to the best you can get.

This will get rid of the rather agricultural square fronted trigger guard with the hollowed out under lever. I am thinking this might be some way to giving the average guy a significant aesthetic upgrade to his Ruger No1 without having to rob a bank to do it.

If the quality was acceptable would you be happy with hand filed and finished cast parts or would you want machined billet?

Lastly, or would you prefer a H&H Woodward Patent under lever and trigger guard look?

Any feed back appreciated, TIA
Glenn Soroka.

If you want good quality hay then expect to pay a fair price, if you want to buy hay that has already been thru the horse, well that comes a little cheaper.

Click on this link below and it will show you what we build for the rich and famous. We will get as close to this style and look as possible. It should be pretty close. Cheers

Glenn that is a terrific idea. Look forward to photos and more details.

Sedona is such a pretty place and should have good vibes being the convergence of some of the earth's natural vortices! Or at least that is what I read when I was there smile

I am interested in this as well and it doesn't bother me if the parts are cast ( I believe the rest of the number 1 action is cast anyway). Of course this will all depend on price! I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Hi Chris, Yes there is the magic of the vortexes ( as they call them here) to help in the creation of wood and steel art.

There are no pics yet as there is a considerable amount of work to get to the point of being able to get prototypes made. Just wanted to see if it was of any interest to any or many. It seems that most are happy with the trigger guard and lever as they came from the factory. There is no pint putting in many many hours of work to sell 9 of them. Unless of course those 9 were to pay custom gunmaking rates. We will see what further feed back eventuates.

Cheers for now

I love the way you have the rear scope ring mounted on the action. That makes scope mounting much easier.

To me, that a problem with the No.1.

If your Farkie/No.1 could incorporate that feature, it would be nice.

I can't imagine that there would be any need for that particular part to be machined billet material. A quality cast that is cleaned up properly would work just as well. Looking at the photos you have linked you and your crew are quite capable of accomplishing that task.
All my No.1's have done yeomans work and have only wore functional upgrades. However it may be time to dress one up a bit

Cast it.

Stephen Dodd Hughes did 3 I think with a side lever. Extraction was an issue I believe.

Sure looked good though!

How about making quarter ribs that move the rear ring over the receiver ring, and the front ring back the same amount.

Yep. This is the only thing I find lacking in my No.1's

I would probably shorten or reshape the very front of the rib too, to clear the objective better.

how about an express sight (single blade or multi-blade) that is a drop in/slide in replacement for the lyman style flip up on the quarter rib.

a user-replaceable safety lever that does not interfere with brass ejection.

just a few ideas.

I'd love to see a mock up or prototype of something you have in mind. Sounds really cool.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.

Yes, I hear you loud and clear on the quarter rib to extend over the receiver. Its a damn piss off having the scope that far forward for a whole bunch of reasons, including wearing your thumb every time you squeeze the trigger.
We are just finishing off another project and then I will get the designs done and posted for your opinions.

I hope this does not mean what I think it means.
