1999 Jennings X-Master at I believe 64#. I happen to have gorilla arms though and draw 31 1/2 inches.

Bought it new and put an overdraw on. I shoot 29 1/2 inch arrows with a 75 gr. broadhead. She's quick...over 300fps over the screens.

On my 3rd set of strings/cables but It works for me and the deer don't seem to mind being shot with and old bow.

The other one is a Bear Kodiak Magnum made in '72. 45# at 28"...I pull it to 30 1/2 and at my draw length, I am right around 53#.

I shot traditional bows for years in the 50# range, but when I stepped up to a compound bow, 60-65# is more than enough for whitetail. I'm a 27" DL and speed is not my goal. Built for comfort. The bows these days are light years ahead of what I started with 20 years ago.

That's a huge amount of power!

Is Prime still offering free cable and string replacement?

Sounds like you have a good set-up.

Elite Energy 32 - 65#~ish, 29.5 inch draw, 395-410 grain Carbon Express Max Hunter in 350 spine. I think we were pushing 280-5 IIRC.

Obsession Phoenix - 68#~ish, 29.5 inch draw, 375 grain Black Eagle Carnivore in 300 spine, and about 290-5, IIRC.

Every two years; yep.

Yours won't bounce off much, either. wink

Greg, My Energy 32" at 28.5 is also at 280ish with about 65Lb draw. We have the same results more or less, I think this is a safe bet that it's an accurate power level!

Gotta love the way that thing "snaps" into place when you hit the back wall. I can hold for minutes if needed! I love this bow!

Yes, I am liking the bow, and it has been consistent over two seasons now.

I hadn't shot it since late December, and fell right back into the groove this morning at the range. Still stacking arrows when I do my part.

Martin Ridge Hunter,75 lb draw weight with 27" draw length. I forget the exact length and spine of the carbon arrows I'm using, but they're fairly long. The heads are 100grs. and this being a single cam bow, I'm only getting around 255 fps. Short draw lengths suck for generating high speeds, but I shot a lot of deer starting in the '80's with a bow that didn't quite break 200 fps, so I don't worry too much about speed.

I've been very happy with the penetration on big boned animals (mostly elk).

They certainly aren't the fastest arrows but I've been very impressed with them.

Never chrono'd, it wasn't fast..... 530gr from B50 strung 60#@28" Blackwidow HS58

BH (Magnus 125 Stinger w bleeders) stuck in opp shoulder (took 3 tugs to get it free). Deer fell where it was standing, never got up. 25 yarder.

Man I loved the grip on that bow.

My old FF strung 55# SA2 w 480gr carbons was less than 200 FPS. This old rig maybe did 180.

Killed the deer dead (ugly spike that dressed over 100).
Running another old dog this yr, 48# BW HF1225.

Have no worries. See if I can maintain my positive attitude after I zip a couple this fall.

55# for me takes some practice, 60# even more.
Work beats me up pretty good, so if I wake up on the wrong side of the bed, just makes things tougher.

Last yr the 48# was easy. No snap shooting either, am gap shooting and holding it for a spell to aim. Stupid easy.
Aim a little low for 20, a little high for 25, and same sight picture for 20 at 30 (but change anchor).

3 sight pictures, 2 anchors. Same as I did for the deer in the pic.

Used 55/75 w 100gr brass insert for the HS58 60#. Lucked into the sight picture deal.
35/55 w 50gr added, same holds (close enough anyway) for the 48#.

I prefer not gap shooting but ripped pulley tendons on one finger, broke one on the other hand, so was out of practice (month or so before season) so tried something different. Worked.

Part of the fun, trying different things out.

Low end, figuring a 500 grain arrow, that Energy should be delivering about 80 ft.lbs. The Impulse with similar weights almost 90 ft.lbs. Yeah, I'd say penetration on big boned animals should be just fine!

Going back to my first bow in early 1980-something.

No mention of speed, shooting a Easton XX75 in 2117, cut to 31 inches, with a Rocky Mountain Razor head, or Thunder Head 150s if I afford them:

In the beginning, there was only draw poundage...and it was good.

The industry rested...

Then, along came speed, and nobody has rested since...
