This rifle would be for squirrels and pests like starlings. My main reason for considering the PCP is the lighter weight. I believe one fill would last through any kind of squirrel hunt. Most high velocity springers are very heavy and at age 65 I am leaning towards lighter weight.

Thanks for the Youtube recommendations. I will check them out.

You can buy the Discovery with the pump included. Still more than a decent springer, though. But, I think you'll like it better. wink

There's also a new model PCP out by Crosman.

Guess I'm just partial to PCP's.

Have killed two huge possums with mine this week. One was 90 yards ranged... smile

A little late to the party. My suggestion is based on my own experience. When I was 11, for my birthday, I received a sheridan .20 pump air rifle. I still have this gun and shoot it regularly, I'm 64. This gun taught me the importance of trigger control, the first shot, gun safety and taking care of a firearm. The pumping process built up young muscles, has zero recoil, no report and light enough for a young person to carry. A box of 500 pellets is cheap and will keep one busy for quite awhile. It is still fun for plinking and is very effective on squirrel sized rodents.
