Anybody using these on a model 70 and with which scopes? I have a couple vx3s and would be happier if I could get the scope a bit lower than the current LW lows.

I use them on two win 70's with a VX3 3.5-10x40, they fit just fine.

Probably don't have much bolt clearance or room for flip up scope covers like the butler creeks.. I hear you about them working, but sometimes they can be awfully close..

Absolutely agreed, the rear end tends to be more of a clearance problem than the front. I had one Mauser action that had enough "slop" in the bolt I had to swap out higher rings to avoid whacking the scope bell on occasion.

I recall someone having their bolt handle shaved from rounded to flat on the top side to make more room for this exact problem, I believe it may have been TDN.

I'm getting ready to mount a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x 42 on a short action Win 70 and I'm really debating whether I'm even going to have enough clearance for lows. We'll see when the talley's arrive.

Talley stated they would not work on long actions, short actions only, when I asked about pairing some extra lows with a 2.5x8 vx3 on a winlite fwt 270, fwiw.

Like we've told you guys many times, the tube length on the 2.5-8x36 is too short to use on the standard action (pre 64 model 70 or post 64). However, I've seen some guys use the talley lightweights with this scope. So it can be done. There just isn't any lateral adjustment.

They work on post-64's great.

On a pre-64 you'll kiss the ocular with the bolt handle using the x-lows.
