Few weeks ago I picked up a new deer rifle a Remington model 700 mountain S.S. in 280 Rem. mounted a Leupold VX I 3-9x40mm and gonna see how Federal 150 grain Nosler Partitions do out of it. For those of you that use a 280 Rem. for deer what grain and bullet do you use? THANKS

If you're not a handloader, then I'd say 139-150gr.
I've used mostly the boring old 145gr Speer Hot Core and it has always done the job well.
Just got a new 280 and am going to try some 120gr Ballistic Tips, based on the positive comment regarding that bullet here on the 'fire..

It's either the Barnes 140 gr. TSX or TTSX.

I have the same rifle in 7-08 and it likes speer 150 grain hot core bullets loaded in federal factory ammo...
Really 3/8" group likes it. And they work well on whitetails.
Maybe the two are close enough to compare. Otherwise ignore my comment.

Factory Remington 140 gr core lokt ammo smashes PA whitetails. Probably not the glamorous answer you were looking for, but if your gun likes them.

Short answer is all of the game bullets work. I've used the old 120 gr. Barnes X, the 154 gr. Hdy Innerbond, to the 160 gr. NP and have always found they were more than good. I've used the 140 gr. Sierra PH's at extended ranges in the 7 Remington mag as well. All of them work fine on deer. Lots of choices there. E

140gr NBT is all mine has ever seen. I'm going to try the 140 Accubond 140 NBT's and NAB's in my Sako AV. 0.5"-0.75" When I do my part. I have been through a lot of bullets and a lot of brands and the 140 gr Nos Bal Tip is the best compromise I have found. The guys I hunt with have been arguing with me for years. They use partitions and heavier bullets. Lately, they have been unable to deny my success and have started buying the Nos Bal Tips. The bullet reaches way out there and stops the deer. I aim for the lungs.
