For those of you interested, Savage is doing a run of smooth bore 22's for us. I can't tell you how many people have requested it in the shop. I ordered 500...
They're about 10 weeks out. I'll update the thread as soon as I have a stock picture and actual description. I'm out of town and will get specifics from my rep when I return. I sent him the PO yesterday to get the ball rolling.
Please don't send any PM's on these yet. I'm afraid I'll loose the info! I'll provide an email for preorders early next week.
I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!

Sounds GREAT !
....I'd sure like to glom onto a good store of the Winchester crimped shotshells,...they blow the CCI blue plastic capsule right off into the WEEDS.

Yeah, I'm getting one. I have 1/2 dozen boxes of the Win's, wish I had a brick.
I likely have 1000 of the CCI's. I've found the CCI's work better on the carpenter bee's out of my LCR.

I've played around with 22rf shot (revolvers and rifles) and found the "kill" distance to be 15'(or less). All being equal, how much distance would one gain using a sb?

Yeah, at least, depending on the size of the target.
Rifled bores spread shot a LOT--as anybody who tries shotshells in a rifled 20 or 12-gauge bore will discover.

Fun and hell on carpenter bees without pucking up everything around it. I got one of those electric fly swatters for them. Fun, but can turn into work. miles

Fun and hell on carpenter bees without pucking up everything around it. I take care of them with airsoft pellets fired through a carbon arrow shaft like a peashooter. Puts the hurtin' on stinkbugs too.

I had an 80 year old neighbor, still working a giant garden, what wanted me to help him find a smooth bore 22 in 1998.
Since then I have spent hundreds of hours in gun shows and pawn shops and never seen one. Or did not know it was a smooth bore. I have seen them online for sale. I have seen them in gun value books.
But they are rare.

I guess you missed the 'Notify me when back in stock button' SGAmmo hasn't had that in stock since Moses had a paper route.

They're shipping some. We have a little on the shelf and I get some on allocation occasionally. We have the CCI blue capsule stuff stocked to the gills.
I'll try to get my hands on a bunch before the guns come in. I'll work a deal out direct or through distribution.

Badminton racket works great for the ones that just buzz around and won't land. Yeah but there is something about that electric pop when you hit one with the electric one. I still stomp them too, for good measure. One going in the hole and you can still fry him. miles
