The newer Encore rifles have a hammer that can be angled 35 degrees or so either way to facilitate cocking the hammer of a scoped rifle. I find this a minimal help with low mounted scopes and larger diameter eyepieces. The older rifles hammers when a hammer extension attached were prone to cracking so I am told. So will the newer hammers hold up to the added weight of a hammer extension?

I do more night hog hunting than any other and night capability is important. I have seen some loose Bison in Montana years ago.

I had used a hammer extension on my original Encore and it broke off the hammer spur. I have not needed one with my new frame.
You could try it. If the new style breaks you could just order the new spur and screw it right on.
After what I went through with my old frame getting it repaired, I wouldn't use one ever again.

If you use an aluminum extender it is less likely to break the spur. The old steel ones were pretty heavy by comparison.

You can buy the aluminum extensions from www.bellmtcs.com/I have several and have never had a problem with them or the hammer. Good luck and good shooting...
