My work is taking me to the Casper area in early June. I will have one weekend to get out and about to hopefully see some of the beautiful country there. I am thinking about taking some spinning gear, paying the reasonable fee for a non-resident license and doing some trout fishing. It seems the North Platte is big on catering to the fly fisherman, how is the powder river near Kaycee? Are there guide recommendations for a 1/2 day trip with spinning gear and mepps? Any other smaller, less crowed out-of-the-way spots to toss a spinner? Thanks in advance.

The Powder River Im afraid is about knee deep and doesn't harbor much life. North platte would be your huckleberry, over towards Douglas.You might also look at fishing the river north of Shoshoni.....though spring run-off might be a problem that time of year.
