Cimarron 1873 44/40 Saddle Shorty or new Winchester 1892 45 Colt or 44 Magnum
No CAS crap, I don't care if I can't 'load' the '73 to the gills. Just a fun shooting lever for more yard work and taking a few deer.

I'm squarely in the '92 camp. Hell for stout, handy, and carry easier than even the '94.

Be prepared to shoot short bullets in it, I got rid of mine because it wouldn't cycle the Lyman Keith bullet. Aside from that it was flawless and as perfect a carbine as you could ask for.

The Keith bullet is no problem if you load 'em in 44 Special brass. Mine runs slick with that setup, not that I do it often.

73' in .45 would be my 1st choice.
92' is on the radar when I find the right one at the right price.

A 200 to 220 RNFP over 8 grains of unique is loads of fun in the Rossi 1892 and will do for deer at short range.

That was also the thunk. I don't have any of those but I do have several other cast bullets around and I'll see how they 'function' and If need be I'll get the RNFP.
I love 9.5grs of Unique and 250's in my handgun loads.

Just ordered a '92 in 44 Mag. Please give a run down on it when you get a chance!

And I went to pick it up today and wouldn't you know, a guy just brought in a Jap '92 in 45 Colt. Carbine butt, 16" barrel and big lever along with elevator sight.
Oh well.
Where can I get an elevator sight for the dovetail? The full buckhorn HAS to go.

Oh well.. Did the store by the Carbine??? I'd sure be interested if they did and have it for sale. Mine is the 92 Takedown Model with the 24" occticon barren and it isn't very handy for hunting, Let me know if you can find out, please.

Thinking of getting a 44 Mag rifle as well because you can use them to kill deer in southern Mich now. I think I can get it to be more accurate than my slug gun. Less recoil as well.
