I usually use the 100 grainers on deer sized stuff...at 3350ish fps MV, its dropped stuff like a sack of potatoes at over 300 yds...and I never lost site of the game during recoil with a Leupold set on 4 power...
Low recoil loads with a 85 grain HP have been more than effective to 200 yds or so... for kids...or those that don't need a 500 yd load for shooting deer at 100 or so...
My uses have been predominantly 85 HP Sierra 100 HP Sierra 100 SP Hornady 100 Partition 105 Partition ( European bullet, from Shooter's Pro Shop, factory overruns) 120 Ballistic Tip 129 SP Hornady 140 SP Hornady 140 Ballistic Tip 140 SP Sierra 140 SP Remington...
everyone of them have been lethal, on the spot...
from 50 to 300 yds +....
don't require all these new fancy projectiles.. when old stuff has been tried and proven for decades...
but then you're talking about a guy who runs a lot of 4064, and surprising number of 4198 and RL 7 loads with the 260 also... so what do I know?
Yes it is a Shilen 30 inch barrel with 1 in 8 twist. The lighter bullets are very accurate in it. Still working on the heaver ones but I like the 160gr Woodleigh bullet more than the 160gr hornady round nose.
Also curious about the hybrid profile hunting bullets from Berger
The Hybrids aren't the hunting bullets, they are target bullets. Essentially they have a thicker jacket, so if you want expansion, pay close attention to impact velocity; they do need more than the VLD Hunting bullets. They do open violently still, just gotta keep them moving.
This may be correct as far as the 6.5 bullets go, but I've watched a couple of videos that pump up the capabilities of the hybrid hunting bullet. Can not find a 6.5 hunting hybrid to save my life...
Is your rifle a 1in 8 twist? I would try the 120TSX or TTSX. Try this web site no info on ELDX but I would anticipate performance similar to NAB it may expand a little better as its length/ogive is different. IMO the 140 NAB is a tough bullet better suited for a faster cartridge.
39.5 grains of 4064 behind a 123 Amax out of a couple .260s, has been the demise of many, many prairie dogs. It shoots the same place and same velocity as 45 grains of H4350..... but it isn't as temp stable.
You better pray to the God of Skinny Punks that this wind doesn't pick up......
No love for the Berger 130 VLD Hunting here? At .260 and 6.5 Creed velocities, it does quite well.
I've killed quite a bit of stuff with the 130gr Berger Hunting VLD. It is my favorite 6.5 hunting bullet.
John
Does it shoot well through your Low Wall?
I have actually never tried them through the Low Wall.

I didn't remember if you had already said so or not. I don't think the Low Walls have the twist for that bullet, they're on the slow side for a 6.5 if I remember correctly.
My friend's Low Wall shoots great with your old H4831 load using the 129 Interlock, so a good while back he bought some of the Bergers thinking one grain wouldn't make a difference. Now that he's finally getting around to the handloading lessons I've promised him, the Bergers came out of storage and I said let's not try those just yet. They may need to become trade bait.
They might work. The .260 Low Walls are twisted 1:9. I never tried them in mine just because it's not really configured for long range and it has worked well with 129gr Hornadys and 130gr Accubonds.
