I'm in the market for a decent bait caster reel for the occasional bass fishing trip. What's out there to consider without breaking the bank ?

The revo s is a good reel. Lews makes one for 99 bucks that is pretty nice too.

Save up, get a Shimano Curado, and don't look back. I've bought numerous reels over the years. the oldest one I have still working is a 14 year old Curado.

The old green curator were the best reels ever made. I wish they didn't change them.

Shimano,Lews and Daiwa all make great reels. I am partial to Shimano and Lews these days.
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

I'm not a daiwa fan at all. I have had their casting reels and their spinning reels and I had no luck with them.

I have an Abu Garcia Black Max with which I've been completely satisfied over the past couple of years. It is a good deal less expensive than some of the suggestions here, but it seems to do a perfectly good job throwing spinnerbaits, poppers and so on, and I've taken some nice fish with it. I've used others, but this one seems good value. It is also available in left hand, which I prefer.

If you're interested in a Abu Revo S I have one that's brand new in the box that I'll sell for $100 shipped.

I like Lew's, but that BPS Pro Qualifier has a really good reputation. Especially for the sale price.

I just got two Pflueger Supreme XT's. I hope that they live up to their reviews.
