I went back to the original scope that was on my 270 when I bought it from my buddy gunsmith. I like these old steel tube weaver k4's. Rifle still shoots good and scope seems to track very well too for it's age. I believe this one is only 11 oz's too. Pretty good fit for a fwt rifle:

I'm working Matt pretty hard Bob for a handful of those 180's. I can't imagine anything more fitting than Partitions and BBCs in the 300.

Plus, you mentioned, they seem to wreck everything they touch.

Have you ever ran 165's out of the 300's?

Scotty, if you like Matt, next time you are down you should get ahold of blackdog1 (Matt's "bro"). He's one truly great person. Him and I have gotten together and talked Winchesters and life for hours on end. The kind of conversations where you wonder where the time went. Weird how small the world is sometimes. By the way, I love that 300 wby of yours. It is damn slick looking!!!

I've had it about six weeks and still find myself opening the safe every few days just to make sure it's really in there. I think it's the single rifle I'd keep if I could only have one!

Here is my pre-64 featherweight in 308 , when the rifle came to me it had some considerable finish issues , one being a bad re-blue job , so we cerakoted it in midnight blue. The stock is a MPI, I began striping the layers of paint off it , got sick of doing it and just left it.

Damn, that is a sweet rifle buddy. If I could find a lefty like that, I'd trade in most of my right handed rifles...Well, maybe...
