Sorry if this is a stupid request but the reviews of many of the name brand electric waffle irons are all over the map so I thought I'd ask what the 24HCF prefers.
Waffle bug bit me about a week ago and just can't shake it.
Thanks in advance folks.

Nothing specific but my suggestion would to get an electric with a non-stick coating. Ease of clean up would be another consideration to me as well. How many you will generally need to make and how fast at one time could be another consideration, but that would depend on your personal needs.
Now you got me wanting a Waffle!!!

Looks nice, but it's not a Belgian waffle maker.

Looks nice, but it's not a Belgian waffle maker. True that but wasn't looking for a Belgian maker. My belt is tight enough as it is. Amazon actually sent me a Belgian unit by mistake so I'm waiting for the brown truck to bring the correct order. Never had any problems with Amazon in the past. CS was very polite. Kudos to them.

Yup, but I cancelled my Amazon order and $$$$ was cheerfully credited back to card. Awaiting brown truck to arrive. Headed to store for peaches and whipped cream http://www.ebay.com/itm/191743979842

At this point in my life, if it's not a nice, crunchy, thick, soft in the middle Belgian waffle, with the fragrance of vanilla extract wafting up to my nose, and soaked in butter (or margarine) and maple syrup...I'm just not interested.

I'm still using the 50+ year old Toastmaster I got from my Mom. God knows how many perfect waffles it has turned out. Probably could find one just like it for pennies at a garage sale.
Oh, and the secret to perfect waffles is less with the gear, than it is with the batter and technique.

I won't give you my 'best' recipe, but this one is not bad. My sister's, and she is a pretty good cook herself. Buttermilk Waffles
Sift together: 2 /14 cups AP flour 2 1/4 tsp baking powder. Make sure it's fresh 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp Kosher salt
Mix together: 3 egg yolks (reserve the whites) 2 cups Buttermilk 1/3 cup melted butter
Add the liquid ingredients to the dry, and mix well.
Beat the egg whites with 2 tsp sugar, until you get stiff peaks
Fold the egg whites into the batter
Cook the waffles, using 1/2 cup per waffle
as far as technique, each waffle iron will have it's own quirks. For mine, I make sure the iron is hot. I spray it with PAM first, then add the batter in the center. I don't spread it. When the waffle is done, let it remain just a bit longer to crisp it.. Serve it immediately.
