I am looking to do a moose hunt next year with my father and am about to send a deposit in on a hunt in NWFD. The outfitter I'm using is a little pricier than most outfits there, but he says we both have a good chance at getting a 40"+ moose. I was just wondering if you guys knew of any outfitters (in other parts of Canada), where it would be a reasonable expectation of getting a 50" moose in the $6-7k price range? I've been looking at AB moose hunts for years, some look like good deals and I'm sure I'll end up hunting there eventually one day, but the moose don't look much bigger than the moose in NWFD that the outfitter I am going to use takes. Any suggestions for a big moose hunt in Western Canada that won't break the bank like an Alaska or Yukon hunt?

If you are after specifically large moose, then you will most likely pay dearly for them.

Speaking from experience, the Newfoundland hunt is a great hunt with nearly 100 percent success. Most other Canadian/Alaskan hunts are not as successful and are more expensive.

I killed a 39-inch moose that is very heavy and a great trophy. There are 50-inch moose in Newfoundland, but not a lot of them. Do yourself a favor and go for the hunt and don't worry about how big the antlers are. They make poor soup.

I drove to Newfoundland, so that I could bring back all of the meat. It was a fantastic trip that cost me $6000 in total start to finish. The hunt itself was $4000.
