Really liked the looks of the new McMillan Mountaineer, so decided to build a "Faux Rifles Inc" in a similar fashion to the faux Ti's I had seen. Really pleased with the results and how it turned out.

For comparison sake, the grey stocked rifle is a real Rifles Inc, the black speckled one is the imitation. A 300 Weatherby and 270 WCF respectively.

Both of your rifles look great. Can you list the parts like barrel brand, barrel contour and bottom metal that you used on the "Faux Rifles Inc"? Who did the work? How much does it weigh? I picked up a Mountainer stock and was trying to plan a build.

Thanks,
Greg

Is the recoil of the light 300 Roy as unpleasant as I imagine it must be?

Here are the specs on both rifles for comparison.

Rifles Inc Strata - 6 pounds, 6 ounces
- Built in 2000
- Rem 700 BDL L/A (Chrome Moly)
- 23" SS Lilja "Featherweight" barrel w/ break
- Teflon coated
- Rifles Inc Strata stock (17 ounces if I remember right)
- Zeiss Conquest 2-10x42 HD5 w/ Rapid-Z reticle
- DNZ Hunt Master rings
- Bolt and action skeletonized

Faux Rifles Inc - 7 pounds, 3 ounces
- Rem 700 ADL L/A (Chrome Moly)
- 24" Factory Sporter Barrel
- Gre-tan fluted firing pin
- Custom bolt knob
- Bolt fluted
- Cerakoted
- McMillan Mountaineer (24 ounces)
- DNZ Game Reaper Mounts
- Leupold VX-2 3-9x42 w/ LR Reticle

The 300 Wby has a break on it which make is not terrible to shoot, although it will get your attention. My idea with the 270 was to build a relatively identical rifle to practice with that doesn't cost as much to shoot. I also left the factory barrel on the 270 as, one, it shot well, and two it doesn't heat up like the Rifles Inc one does. I also chose to go with the DNZ mounts over the Talley Light Weights as they are much more robust, but only weigh 1 ounce more.

If anyone else has built a Faux Rifles Inc Strata on the Mountaineer, please post them up. Would love to see how others are approaching this.
