Hello all.

My dad (age 74) likes to take my brother and I on an annual summer fishing trip. We have done the Florida flats for reds and trout a couple of times and are looking for something different.

Dad can't take up and down in a bit too well and gets seasick so we need to stay more inshore than offshore.

Other than that we are up for most anything, looking for fully guided and a place to stay nearby. Spin fishing is preferred, as I'm the only fly caster in the bunch.

Any suggestions and contacts?

Thanks,

PigGuy

I'd book a trip to Lake Guntersville for bass fishing. Excellent top water during the summer months and very large bass. It definitely would be a trip to remember. powdr

Not much of a fisherman myself, but I'd suggest you look into Canada for northern, walleye and lake trout.

Lots of places offering lodging, food and guide services. I love our annual trips in to the bush to fish in northern Saskatchewan.

What about the mtns. of GA, NC or TN for trout?
Another place that is good is ReelFoot or Kentucky lake in TN.

I know you said "spin fishing" and seem to indicate a preference for saltwater but what about a Lake Ontario charter. There used to be some pretty good package deals (fishing and lodging) in the Oswego area and I'm sure you could find some elsewhere.

Or go all out and come up to SE Alaska. The weather isn't usually too bad, and the scenery can't be beat.

Might even catch one of those.

Lake Champlain. All kinds of stuff to do up here and all the little trout brooks you could want if you want to get out of the boat.

Be glad to get you from airport if you decide to stay in the northern half of state. Lots of bed and breakfasts also....

Lots of fly in lakes in Northern Sask. If you prefer to stay in a town, Nipawin and Tobin Lake might be a good combination. Fly into Saskatoon and drive to Nipawin. Lots of places there cater to fishermen and guides are easy to find. Some of the biggest walleye and pike in the province in that lake.

Lake of the Woods in Northern Minnesota would make for a very memorable trip. Lots of the resorts run guided trips or launch boats where the comfort level is very high. Summer trips usually mean fishing deeper. It would make for a very memorable outing.

Another Minnesota option if you like bass, pike, or muskie fishing would be Mille Lacs. Lots of big smallmouth, and muskie's the size of small torpedos. Don't bother going for the walleyes, and the entire lake is catch and release right now for walleye.
