I'm really interested in measuring speeds of some saboted loads. Have a Oehler 35 and don't need to use diffusers. I'm thinking setting it up real close to the muzzle to prevent hits from the sabot. Trying to learn from the mistakes of others.

Mistakes, I've made a few but try to learn from them. .
I made some plywood shields for my oehler chronograph, I also used some alum. arrow shafts to hold the diffusers.

Watch out for smoldering powder embers. Had some burned wires on my fold-out chrony.

Shooting Chrony. They sell chronys with the screen that sits on top of your shooting table and the readers are inside a metal folding box.

That's a great looking set up there Smokeeter. I notice the sabots go flying off about 8 yds from the muzzle. Was hoping that setting up 6-8' from the muzzle might avoid all the handywork. Never thought about burning embers Hooker22. I'm using 777 powder. I'll take a look at the Shooting Chrony BB455.

I busted a Shooting Chrony shooting a 12 gauge Remington Buckhammer through it. Didn't hit the box, the sabot hit one of the aluminum rods.
