Looking for an original with butt plate. No cracks or missing wood, scuffs OK. A decent synthetic maybe.

Try e-bay...I bought one on there....You can usually find either a new reproduction one that needs a little fitting or a used one....

eBay or Boyds.

I don't think that anybody makes, or made, a synthetic stock for a Savage 340.

Just missed one on ebay. The one that is on the rifle is a
"Bishop" (no longer in business) which may be a good thing. Nice looking piece of walnut but very heavy, feels cumbersome, and clumsy. Barrel/action is seated so deep into the stock that it hides all the info stamped on it. Rifle shoots great but feels awkward.
