that is a great deal. I got to use mine this past weekend on Northern California ground squirrels. My Nikon 550 wouldn't range anything in the alfalfa fields past 75yds and struggled on fences and sprinklers past 300. The Sig Kilo2000 worked great. It would consistently give solid readings on ground level mounds, squirrels, or just the hay out past the 450 yards I could shoot. Haven't got to try it out on deer at long range but based on how it worked on low-profile non-reflective targets in the pastures, I am confident it will perform on big game further than I care to shoot.

Wow! Nice price. I got mine for $450 shipped, which was the best that I could find at the time.

I got mine last week from Vizards. Very happy with it. Traded away my old Leica 1200.

Love mine. My Leopold will be in the classifieds here in a few days.

I've had my Sig consistently ranging hilltops and trees to 1600+.

Do they have any ballistic ranging stuff for up and down inclines with specific calibers?

I will be keeping my Leupold RX-1200i TBR
clear, small(fits in my pocket)will range deer at more than 800 yards and reflective targets at more than 1200 yards.

To each his own but 800 yards on deer sized game is about twice the range a deer should be shot at anyway IMHO.

Is 800+ yards really not enough for shooting game? LOL

bcraig,

Your opinion about how far one should shoot at game does not fit in a thread about range finders. You can brag about your Leupold all you want. I ordered one, compared it to my Leica 1200 scan and returned the Leupold.

Once I had this one in my hand and compared them I sold the Leica. The Kilo 2000 is better. It includes angle and ranges farther.

Ringman,
This forum is about hunting optics.
Rangefinders on this forum are mainly used for hunting purposes.
So yes my opinion about ranges most surely applies to the thread.

I have been a member of this forum for many years ,I am free white and well over 21(56)and can express my opinion any time I want to.

Furthermore who died and left you in charge to decide what is and what is not appropriate ?

New record here I think. Made it 6 posts before leaving the original topic completely.

Thanks for the morals lesson, Craig. Everybody on this forum is now dumber having read it, and I award you no points. May God have mercy on your soul.

I must be using mine wrong, I've found the extending ranging capability to be be extremely useful, despite never shooting at an animal beyond 330 yds.

You are Welcome Tanner.
God spoke to me and told me that the use of "to each his own"
And "IMHO" would be confusing to some on this forum,as your comment clearly shows.

So I will rephrase my words so as not to be responsible for any further Dumbing down of "Everybody on the Forum" as you put it.

I,as in me, Have no business shooting at game over 400 yards.

And Now you say you will award me no points ?
How ever will I get to sleep tonight knowing this !

I certainly hope God has mercy on my soul, thought I was getting closer to needing Mercy than I wanted to be when I had triple bypass surgery on Feb 1st !

When you learn how to use a RF for more than just ranging and shooting game animals, your requirements for a RF go up dramatically.

I killed a bedded buck a couple years ago because I ranged it at over 800 yards and by subsequently ranging a group of trees and a distinctive boulder at (IIRC) right around 600 yards, I knew if I could get to that rock, I would be well in range. If that spot wasn't within range I probably wouldn't have got any closer from that direction, so would have had to go completely around the basin and come in from another angle.

Having a rangefinder with capabilities way beyond my shooting is advantageous in more ways than one...Plus, I enjoy the hell out of picking a rock or whatever else out of a hillside or canyon wall at 1000+, aiming 10 feet high with an open sighted lever gun and giving it hell. Knowing the distance adds to the fun.

And don't give me $hit about the dangers of aiming 10 feet high and lobbing rounds in. Its perfectly safe in my shooting areas.

my kilo 2000 arrived today. I immediately popped in the battery and walked outside.
I was ranging 950 to the close house on the ridge, then 1021 to the house behind it, and 1911 to the house on the hill.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that the battery was supplied as well as a case.

The Swarovski 8x30 RF will be down the road very soon.

T_Inman,

I use mine in the same way "If I can get to there, how far will the shot be?", I'd use Google Earth too but the mountains block the signals.

BTW, is the anal orifice Rawlins fooking Wyoming?

I hear so many positive things about it that I'll be upgrading to the Kilo 2000 in the near future.
