About 2 1/2 years ago we had a pretty nasty flood here on the Northern Colorado front range. It blew out every river, and just about every lake for about 500 square miles. The fish all got hit pretty hard, especially in this lake.

I've been fishing this particular little cove since I was old enough to ride a bike.... as much as it pains me to say it.... that's over 30 years now. Since the floods, it's been hard to scrounge-up a 16" fish, but it looks like things are on the up-swing. I've put a dozen walleye on the bank this week... with a couple breaking 4lbs.....

Then this morning....

This lady CLOBBERED a 3.5" Berkley Ripple-Shad Swimbait in pearl/black on a 1/4 oz jig-head...slow-rolling it on the bottom. It was a pretty good 10 minute scrap on the 5.5' ultra-light with 4lb fluorocarbon. She went 8lbs and just shy of 30".... and brought a huge smile to my face and a nostalgic tear to my eye. Needless to say.... she swam away unharmed.... can't say the same for the smaller ones.

Good choice in putting her back and keeping some others for eaters. Not many have the ability to do that.......

Shhhhh! That's a big perch! Lots of nice "perch" in the west. You may have to switch out the ultra lite next time you catch her. Nice!
