quick question, how fast are you pushing those deep h.p's from the 200grain slovenian mold? For 45acp? I loaded some today with 5.5.gr of 231, they feed just as slick as a whistle in a sig.

Sorry for the late reply, been out of town.
I run various loads with that bullet; the top end is about 1100 fps in a full size 1911 or Glock without going into 45 Super loads, Power Pistol is your friend for those loads. This load is very similar to a 200gr XTP +P load, with pretty much the same velocity and charge weight.
Most of the time I run them about 1000 fps with Unique.
I also use a 190gr modified Lee bullet with a really big hollow point, and keep that at 700-800 fps for soft plinker loads.

I miss those flying ashtrays, those were neat bullets. You're right about needing to slow them down. My 190gr bullet is the same way, I made it with the old flying ashtray in mind. The Mihec bullet takes a little more speed to open up, but has a narrower velocity window that it works in, if you cast with wheelweight alloy anyway. I think I've posted it before - my cast bullet equivalent of the flying ashtray. It still opens to some degree all the way down to 600-650 fps:

as it often happens, few years ago i walked into quite a few boxes of the 200gr speer bullets, and bought them all. And they mostly sit there, as i hate to shoot them up at cow turds. I ended up wanting that slovenian mold to have a low cost alternative for the same thing. just loaded some of the hollowpoints to go at about 950fps. will be happy if mine look like yours.

by the way, i sent this to a gunwriter friend of mine, as i sent him some 429421 powdercoated bullets to play with. He was wondering if there was an increase in velocity.
I checked back in my notes and: model 29 s&w 4inch 310lee gas checked 44mag sized .431 1.60oal 13.5gr of 2400 1.976fps 2.954fps 3.963fps 4944ps 5955fps 6.989fps same bullet same gun, same load but powdercoated: 1.round was off so dropped it 2.1053fps 3.1051fps 4.1054fps not a lot but powdercoated did add some
