I just realized I left my green Stanley coffee mug somewhere. If anyone comes across it and is headed for Colorado, let me know. Otherwise, just write my name on the bottom, use it if you like - It'll keep coffee hot for 8 hours. And maybe someday we'll meet up again...

Then for a while I was having to much fun to take pictures but we started again when the pin shoot started.

Safety meeting and bowling pin shooting rules.

Hearing protection is a must for everyone even if they are just watching or as in this case napping.

The pins. They are set back one foot from the front of a full 4X8 sheet of plywood for 45s, centre of the tables for 38 and 9mm, and a foot from the back for 22s. The shooting line is 25' from the table.

Two shooters come to the line and when the command to fire is given they blast away. They have 18 rounds to get every pin off the table.

The ladies shoot well enough to make even me think of behaving. Here they show what they can do.

Two fine gentlemen who know a lot more about shooting than I ever will go head to head and the pins fly.

Taking it easy after a hard day's shooting.

Ben uncrating cobbler. I never knew until then you could get cobbler in a crate.

These two dudes, Jace and Cody, couldn't get enough of the big bore rifles.

Thought I might have to arm wrestle Jace for the .470 NE double gun. I think he shot it 6-8 times in a row one day. Cody shot the charging elephant with the .416 Howell and managed to get two rounds downrange from the bolt gun.

Dang impressive for both young men.

What I was thinking, but didn't want to break your concentration to say as much.

Well, after an overnight stay in Pecos, Tx, the Harris/McIntosh clan made it to south/central Texas about 4:00 this afternoon. The camp trailer is parked in the shade of the oak tree in the side yard and the piles of laundry are monumental. Once again, we had a fabulous time! Thanks to the generosity of so many, our boys not only have some great stories to tell, but they have great prizes and are sporting bruises on their right shoulders which they proudly display to anyone who asks. They're already planning strategy for next year's shooting events.
Thanks to Brian's patience and excellent teaching, Jocelyn has begun "shopping" for her requested birthday present. I have until October to come up with an appropriate caliber pistol for a 12 year old girl and it looks like 4-H shooting sports will become a regular part of her routine (Thank you Scott F). She may even participate in a few of the shooting events next year. wink
I took lots of pictures... with dad's camera, so I am sure he'll get more up as soon as Photobucket begins cooperating.
I cannot thank all of you enough for allowing us to join in this gathering each of the last 3 years. Just this afternoon, as Jace sat gazing at his newly acquired .22 revolver, he glanced up at me and said with a very serious face "Mr. Darby is awesome!". We are honored to have met each and every one of you, you are ALL "Awesome".

Well I see that Michael and I missed a really great time. We will try to plan for next year. Already looking forward to Pumpkin Center. On a side note, the wife and I spent Sunday driving Boy Scouts (8) to Tucsons Mt. Lemmon for the second campout of the summer Big Red Camp. Nothing like driving 3 hrs, helping set up camp then driving 3 hrs home. laugh

Donelle, I don't think I have ever met a nicer group of people than on a Campfire get-together. Hopefully next year we can make the NM Gathering. Some of the best people, food and fun you can have.

Only a dingleberry, not yet a Turdlike person, maybe someday!!!

Donelle, good to see you posting. Your young lady told me and others that She planned to beat Her Brother shooting next year. It will be quite a chore. miles

David, those would be my earmuffs... Hang on to them and I'll get them next time we get together. Use them if you need too!

Mike and I made it to my house, last night (Monday) around 11pm. Headed on down to his place today.

Thanks to all for such a great time. Special thanks to KRP for the great food. The fellows that put on the Quemado Gathering always do a great job, Thanks to all.
