I have heard of iron sights but it has been many years since I have seen one.

I'm in with you old dudes.

Now, iron sights are one thing and old farts are another - but it's those old iron farts you gotta watch out for.

I'll try to remember the 1905 (missing the rear sight - hint, hint), and see your Colt 32-20 with another! Might even bring the Marlin takedown in 32-20 smile

Any interest in me bringing a 1893 Marlin in 25/20? I've heard the manufacture date was 1894 and then someone else deduced it was 1906....

history on the rifle, is it belonged to a Doctor friend of mine who passed, it was handed down thru his family... his Great Grandfather had bought it new in Indiana...

Damon and his wife never had any children and he had one sister, who is a typical San Francisco leftist, anti everything normal.. they did not get along.

She actually wanted the rifle, so she could destroy it, claiming it had been a family embarrassment.. so at the twelfth hour it was given to me...after he passed in 2003.

Well, I'm going to bring Alan's brand-new, in 1937, Win model 62.

When Dad came home from WWII, the train stopped in Denver. They had a layover and Dad walked to a shop and bought the used rifle for $10.

Sounds like this is shaping up to be quite a vintage affair! I mean vintage firearms too!!!

Brian,

I think most of us attending are what would be considered 'vintage'... maybe instead we need to set up a kids range for the younger crowd, 40 and under...

Mark,
I may have several sights that might just work. A couple may even be Winchester. I will bring them!

Us old guy's like old guns,by the way I remember when no one we knew in the whole county had a scoped rifle, we called open sites iron sites because a peep site was not an open site to us, I have some old iron that I can bring to shoot that has not been shot in years.think I will dig it out and bring it along. I haven't been able to "see" officially since 1963 - my "good" eye was 20/150. I used-to-could shoot OK, though. smile

I can still shoot just fine at 67. I have no idea if I ever hit anything but I can still shoot.

No....I'm 56 and I lost the ability to focus the front sight last year. I need a sympathetic optometrist who can make some glasses for me so I can see the front sight again.

All I've got that is iron-sighted is an M1A and a handful of handguns.

FYI Wife and I have penciled in our rout and dated. We plan to be there on the afternoon or early evening of the 13th. I also plan on bringing a saw to cut up some fire wood. Does anyone know if those piles of wood are still there.
