Nice looking gun!
Still have to laugh when its called a 223 wylde barrel though. Don't know how that got started.
Rock makes some really hummer tubes.

I just got in my parts last week to put together my first AR. I bought an upper from Palmetto. It is a SS 18in barrel in 223 wylde. I assembled my lower from parts bought locally.
I did not like the really heavy trigger. I was accurate ok at 100 yards, but did not shoot farther yet. only shot that one day. I came home and ordered a 3-lb timney trigger for $180 from Cheaper than Dirt. It arrived yesterday. Just installed it. Tested it, much nicer.
Looking forward to going back to the range and firing some 300yd targets.
For my scope, I had a Leupold VX-3 CDS laying around and put that on it.
I suppose I've ended up with a fairly good bench rifle, but really want to go out west and shoot some coyotes and prairie dogs. We have not much of either in Mississippi.
We do, however, have hogs and I plan to try to go hunt some of those soon.

FWIW you can usually find RRA varmint triggers for 60ish bucks on sale... compared to a timney that I've felt they sure smoke em....

I got a smoking deal on the Timney I installed. I would have never got one if I had to pay full price. I really wanted a Geissele but the price was right on the NIB Timney I bought.

Very nice build.......hard to go wrong with a lot of Noveske stuff.........if I would have done it, I'd have gone the extra mile & used a Novesle barrel too.
RRA is more or less OK, Noveske is top shelf.

MM I know Noveske has good barrels but I have a hard time believing that they are better than a Rock Creek barrel. Ask the guys that run them on their bolt action rifles.

Noveske's 1-7/ 5.56 chambers are really not all that. Maybe they used to be. I think I had a timney once and I also had an ar gold; they should not be used in an ar.

I run TIMNEY triggers and love them no way does a RR compare. Yeah... I'll disagree till the day I die. An RRA tuned up will beat a flipping timney all year long. But I'm a trigger snob and then I know how to tune a money saving RRA if it actually needs much tuning. But then some folks never get used to a 2 stage which is a shame.

Its all a matter of personal opinion on a lot of AR stuff. I've never needed more than RRA basic parts and a few things tweaked or swapped out to win up to the national level. Doesn't mean Noveske isn't great and worth the extra to some. I'm cool with all that.

Rost would you be willing to tune a RRA trigger for me if needed? I could flip the Timney in a heartbeat. I've never tried a 2 stage trigger. That's why I wanted the geissele trigger

I used Noveske upper and lower receivers because I got them at really good prices. I also figured if I ever want to sell it I would have a little better resale than say an Anderson

A two stage trigger is just a fancy name for a trigger with creep. At least to me but each there own.

The last Timney I tried had almost enough creep to be called a 2 stage.
Jeff are you trying to say you won nationals with a RR barrel?

no, not RR barrel, but RRA lowers, uppers, some parts...
Only shot Kriegers and then Pac Nors for a different reason back then...
Though I"ve been beaten by wilsons from RRA.
And yes, re-reading I was not totally clear, IMHO you generally don't win with a factory barrel and the most accurate ARs are not "factory"

You might be in over your head if thats what you think about 2 stage triggers. How many ARs have you had? How many 2 stage triggers? Ever shoot competition matches? Ever have an AR trigger with ZERO creep in the trigger period? I"m 99% sure your timney has creep. How long have you been shooting the AR? How well do you shoot yours? How accurate is yours?

The most accurate AR I have Has a POF barrel which is made by Rock Creek.
