Anyone dealt with Mike Orlen lately ? Been trying for over a month to contact him for some choke tube work and he's not returning calls.I hope he's ok.

Are you calling? It’s been my experience he’s not great at returning e-mails.

The man is to busy doing great work at fantastic prices to chit chat on the phone all day or sit in front of a computer answering dumb questions.
Hi prices haven't changed in years.

Just put your barrel in a box with a note about what you want done along with a check for the amount and send it to him. before you know it your barrel will be on your doorstep with the work you wanted done, done perfectly (you would have had it back by now if you had just sent it in).

and someday he will get around to cashing your check.....

Sorry if it came off that way, just being honest.
If a person want's excellent choke work done Mike is only one of many 'smiths that can do the work. He is old school and concentrates on getting work done with top quality in a very timely manner at prices that are to good to believe.
He has done a couple barrels for me without any correspondence by phone or e mail.
I understand people being hesitant these days about doing business with people and how it can be hard to believe that there is a honest person out there doing business.
If a shooter needs a 'smith that they can talk with on the phone and correspond by email with, Mike ain't the guy. I would suggest Briley. They do great work, you can call or email them and get responses. They also charge 3-4 times the amount that Mike does and that excellent phone and email support will come in very handy when you are waiting 3 months to get your barrel back.
The last barrel he did for me was a 311 double. I had him cut 2" off the barrels, machine for tubes, install a center bead and lengthen the forcing cones. He had them back in my hands in under two weeks including shipping time.
He finely cashed my $218 check 3 1/2 months later....

Mike has done a large bunch of barrels for me, but he will not get any more work from me... I can think of no fewer than 20 tubes, total.

The last two batches took months to get back and the last had very substandard work...

Just wanted to confirm that the choke tubes he uses are steel shot compatible.
