We are downsizing and my wife looks askance at my trusty old yard long Barr and Stroud optical range finder. It was magic for long range shooting back before laser range finders were available.

Does anyone still use these things? Is there a market for them?

Thanks

The last person I saw getting good use out of the B&S's was Dan Lilja. I think he was tuning and selling them as recently as 5 years back. The last one I saw went for something like $400 bucks (not Lilja's). I also remember Sportsmans Guide or some similar selling some Wild's that they somehow got their hands on. With the advent of the higher end laser's, I think the artillery coincidence range finders are mostly obsolete. Maybe one day long range rifle will stretch to 20,000 yards and the B&S will rule again!

I'm keeping my 80cm Zeiss', but perhaps one day I'll be in your shoes or my kids will give them to a military museum as a relic from the past.

I would think they'd be pretty useful in the LR prairie dog fields. The sparse features can be tough for even a good laser to pick up, especially "way out there". Wouldn't want to haul one through the mountains for a sheep hunt. Pretty much a drive in, setup, and shoot accessory.

I have the Wild rangefinder, while not as handy as any of the laser models still is useful for many hunting endeavors when weather conditions are poor and portability is not a factor, don't know what it is worth but it's not for sale anyway.
