The 99T arrived today. The serial number is a bit under 350,000, 347.xxx, so it breaks the historical rule … but it sure looks like a legitimate T. All numbers match and there is a T stamped on the front end of the receiver. What do you think?

I've taken a lot of pictures, so if you need to see more detail, let me know.

Scabbard's not right, obviously aftermarket addon.

grin

THAT is a killer 99T. My earliest 99T is right at 350,xxx, but I see no reason to think they couldn't have started a few months earlier.

Very nice rifle. My 250T has a T stamp on the receiver as well. Rare gun and even rarer to be in as good as shape as the one you got there. Not even the dreaded sling swivels are on that one.

Yeah, how could you bring that thing home? It has more condition in the lever than all of my 99's put together! That's a nice one, Joe.

Holy Smokes that's pretty much a once in a lifetime find IMO. Consider carefully if you will use one that nice for the risk of wear or damage. Absolutely gorgeous.

Which begs this question to be asked. How many offers on the T vs how many offers on the scabbard? grin

I would think a serious collector would go $2500 on that gun and feel really good about it, considering the odds of finding another are basically ZERO.

I went to an auction about 5 years ago to buy essentially the same gun in the same condition. I never even got my number raised up. The gun landed at 2700.

That was then and this is now, but nevertheless, these don't show up everyday...

A Savage 99 with a 20 inch barrel is about a perfect lever action. The 99T is the best of the lot.

Since it is such a nice condition T, I went ahead and lettered it, so I would have the papers with it. It lettered as a 99-T, originally made in caliber 250-3000 Savage. It was shipped from the Savage factory in Utica, N.Y. on May 8, 1935. The original consignee is entered as the California Hardware Co. of Los Angeles, CA.

Nice. I'd say your T just reset the "historical" rule for serial numbers - not broke it. Very nice rifle!

I have a 250 T just like this. I mounted a stith and Alaskan on it. It shoots great though I don't know how much hunting time it will get.

Great rare rifle Keith.
