Just ordered this '1952 undrilled .30-30 94 for my decade-type birthday coming up this year:

[Linked Image]

I know the scratches on the butt make it worthless as a hunting rifle, but at least it has the tang thing that goes up. And who would want a rifle with a fold down rear sight.

Range report soon as I can

The tang sight mounting holes are not factory drilled on that gun....

You might be right, but my understanding is that the Lyman just used the tang screws.

Its the receiver that was not drilled on the side till 1953.

Unless you think there are extra holes for this tang sight.

Winchester quit drilling M94's for tang sight installation in 1942. Installation of a tang sight on later guns required drilling one additional hole in the tang....

What type of sight were you supposed to use if no hole in the tang or in the side of the receiver?

I contacted the seller before it shipped to my FFL. He was a real gentleman about MY mistake, and he is cancelling the sale. I offered money for his trouble and he said no.
