Does anyone have experience with this rifle and caliber? I am eyeing one that looks new for 700.00. I don't want a project rifle trying to get accuracy. Thanks in advance for your comments.

I have this exact rifle. I put mine in a McMillan stock. I have not worked up a load or put a new trigger yet but it is shooting 1-1.25" groups at 100 with factory 100gr ammo. Hopefully I'll get better results with 110 accubond and imr4831.

My Daughter shoots a 700 SPS 257WM. Has had the barrel and bolt fluted, bolt handle skeletonized and trigger worked to 2.75lbs, but it is all factory parts. Shoots Factory Nosler 110AB.

"High Plains Precision" Spearfish, SD. It has been awhile, but I think Matt strickland was running things then.

I agree with this. I have owned several, in many different calibers, and every single one of those was an excellent shooter. I did put a couple in B&C mountain rifle stocks and really loved them in that configuration. If you can find one, in any caliber, for $700, jump on it.

Sounds like a great deal!I have a Remington 700 from Red Hawk in a 257WB that I put into a McMillian Edge stock and it loves 100TTSX with 7828 at close to 3700fps.
It will shoot a all touching group and is a blast to shoot.
Cant wait for Montana this year!

Haven't bought a Remmy CF since 1970, but if I was gonna, the CDL would be it.

Thanks for all the replies, I went ahead and bought it. Factory WBY 100gr spitzers aren't that impressive accuracy wise but I loaded some 100gr Barnes ttsx over 64gr of IMR 4831 at 3415fps into basically one ragged hole. The xmark trigger sucks and thinking of putting it in a B&C or HS stock. Can't afford a Macmillan. Which would you pick? Can't wait til hunting season.

Why not just save up a year and buy the Mickey stock? Hunt as is this year.

The .257WBY is an awesome round!

I have the LSS version. Took it to the range the day i bought it and it shot the 100ttsx like a champ. Took it hunting 4 days later and shot a buck with it.

It now resides in a HS stock that was sitting in the corner used.

I have the LSS model also, the Weatherby factory 100 grain spitzers shot about 1 1/2" groups, went to the 115 Nosler PT's and the groups tightened up. Next, I have a box of the 110 grain Nosler Accubonds, at $89/box they ain't cheap!

The 110 accubonds shoot really well in my remington CDL
