I bought a Ruger RAR for farm truck gun when I'm back home and its a decent gun except you have to watch the magazine release.

I went beaver shooting and carried it out to the woods holding it cradle style and noticed the magazine release was jabbing my arm and adjusted my hold a bit... When I got to the beaver blind... magazine was missing.

Never thought I would complain about the extended release and embrace the flush one on a 10/22...

Crap hanging out the bottoms of hunting rifles is one of my pet peeves; one of several reasons I traded off my otherwise fine CZ.

Whether it's a magazine or a clip, it it sticks out, it's a nuisance.

Yup.
I'd have ground it down before it ever had the first shot.

I also have one and truly dislike that mag release. Never had a problem with the old flush 10 22 mag release.

Trying to think of a possible scenario I would need to do a speed reload with a bolt action .22lr rifle.

Grind down the release as previously stated. I find that the 15-rd BX-15 helps protect the release from getting tripped. BX-25 works too, but is a little less handy-dandy.

I replaced the one on my .17 with an old flush one from a 10/22. Quick and easy. As many people as there are that replace the flush ones you should be able to pick one up cheap.

I would think a bump pad on the bottom of the magazine would help. I put them on my 10/22. They don't protrude and they are flat on the bottom. I found mine on evil-bay.

Dremel. Dremel Tool. Makee less obtrusive.

I've got a RAR predator and a 10-22 that need the treatment. One of those gotta get around to it, treatments.
