Well after finishing up school last week, wife said we needed to go shoping for a graduation gift. Said id wanted a new truck since we got married in the service and at the time with new little ones on the way it never panned out.

Came home last night with a 16 F250 lariat with the 6.2 gasser. man this thing is sweet, power everything and heated and cooled seats. Way nice than the old 94 12 valve that we have.

Question is are the tuners or any other options out there worth a darn to get extra power by way of a reprogram? only ever had carbed truck or 12 vales before so the tuners are new to me.

Thanks
David

Congrats on the new wagon!

I suggest driving it for a few months before going mod-wild. Chances are that thing will do all you want an more without dropping any more coin on it.

Tuners almost universally void warranties, and the dealer can tell even if you return it to stock. My attitude is Ford engineers spent millions upon millions of dollars tuning for a balance of power, economy, and performance. The only benefit to tuning comes from simultaneously removing emissions, another warranty voiding action. Resale on tuned trucks is also quite a bit less. I wouldn't even consider it unless I was out of warranty, *needed* more power, and was willing to suffer the motor and transmissions consequences.

Quite often, tuners, etc. might gain a slight bit of mileage but not enough to ever pay for themselves.

Like i said was just wondering. the new one is way ahead of what im used to. never had a gasser that could be tuned. i am more than happy with it so far. waiting to get the first 500 miles on it then change oil and start working it.
