Thought some would be interested to know Alliant now has some initial load data on their website. The 270win data looks good if it's true.

As they come out with new powders, it bothers me, that you can't get Alliant Products anywhere... hit and miss at best...

have been a fan of their stuff for a long time.. however availability or lack of it has kinda soured that big time...

I hear you Seafire...there are some Alliant powders I see most everywhere...the new ones not so much. Hodgdon isn't a lot different, some of theirs are hard to find. Western is probably the worst in my area.

Looking at the RL16 data, if their loads "hold water", it makes the 7-08 a 270, and the 270win loads are basically the same as some of the 270WSM loads. Interesting.

A published 270 Win load with 130g bullets above 3200fps.
Now that is a potent load. Sounds far from a compressed charge too.

Wonder how fast it would send a 110g X-Bullet?

oh I love Alliant Powders...

just like I'd like to spend a few nights with a young Anne Margaret, but the availability of either sucks....
I admit to having stocked up nicely for the time being with AR Comp, which is like a Temp INsensitive RL 15.. which I am sure RL 16 is also...

but probably from different sources and I am sure RL 16 is closer to RL 15 burn rate, than AR Comp which is a little faster...

but working up my own loads when reload data was non existent, it gives some decent velocity/accuracy out of the 223, 22.250, 243, 260 and 7/08, 6.5 x 55, 6.5 x 57 and 7 x 57...

Can anyone tell me what the right most column of their data is called "notes"? It'll say: 0.220" C or some will have "air" in the place of the "C".

Inches of compression vs. inches of air between powder and bullet maybe?

yeah, if I pick up some, the 243, 260 and 22.250 are going to be the trial candidates to road test it...especially heavier bullets in the 22.250 in my fast twist barreled one..

I like Alliant until I actually load them. For whatever reason my rifles don't come close to matching their published numbers, even accounting for barrel length. On the other hand my rifles match Hodgdon almost perfectly. But I'm sure I'll be swayed by the potential and try it out.

Exactly. They can't keep up with what they have now and they keep coming out with more! sick

The 270 Win/130 gr. numbers look impressive but then the same combo in 270 WSM doesn't budge from previous powders. Must not be the ideal speed for the WSM case.

I'm getting a bit tired of waiting... I've yet to see it. Heck I haven't seen 23 or 26 in a store, but at least I've seen them online.

Agreed. My LGS received a shipment of Alliant Powder today. It contained RL 19 & 22 (yawn), no other rifle powders.

I did an extensive search on-line today. The only site I found that even listed RL 16 (out of stock) was grafs.com.

A 30-06 150 gr. TSX at over 3000 fps should take care of most chores needing done
