Jpretle,

No experience with RL-26 but I have used 25 and used Fed-215 primers with good results. It was in a 8mm Rem Mag so I was igniting a hat full of powder.

In my 7MM Mag with 160gr Accubonds I have found
Winchester WLRM primers give the Smallest ES of all
the primers I have used. With the 270 winchester and
257 Roberts, I only use Winchester WLR primers. Does
not seem to make much difference.

I use Federal 215M primers on any cartridge that I use RL-25 in. Never had a problem.

In my .270 and .25/06 I use the Fed 210 Match with RL-26.

In my .300 Wby I use the Fed 215 mag.

Fed 215's with RL25 in the 7 RM, 7mm Dakota, and 7mm Mashburn Super.

Oh.....and the 270 Winchester as well.

The 280 Remington is overbore.

The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

The real question is has anybody TESTED various primers against each other with these powders?

If it's a ball type powder I'd start with a Mag primer, other wise something colder like a CCI200 in a 308-30.06 sized case.

I haven't tried different primers with each ball powder, but I always use mag primers with slow burning ball powders. Powders like Tac light easily with any primer.

I've been using Fed 215s with RE26 in 270 WSM, 300 Win Mag, and 7mm RM. I tried WLRs in the 270 WSM load and while I had good ignition the group size was a bit better with the 215s. I've only loaded RE25 in a 270 WBY and with that I use the Fed 215s as well.

I've always stuck with under 60 grains gets regular primers and over gets mags. I tried CCI250's with RL26 in the 243 and 25-06. In both of those, in my small sample, CCIBR2's edged them a touch in accuracy.

Speeds weren't hugely different either.
