Been awhile and a couple of my 44's have new grips, so here's some pics: 5" Classic DX with ivory micarta grips by John Culina. 6.5" pre-29 44 Magnum with ivory micarta grips by John Culina. Talk about Smith Perfection X2!

To my mind, the 29-5 Classic DX's were the last of the truly fine M29's S&W made: all the endurance package upgrades, but still with the forged hammer and trigger; drilled and tapped for a scope, but no internal lock.

Wonderful. The 629 DX's turn up occasionally, but the 29 DX's are quite rare, especially the 5"

I agree. Probably the true Apex of the Model 29.

I have a 6.5 Ruger Blackhawk .41 Mag that I love. In hindsight, I should have bought a .44 Mag. The .41 is great, but logistics are easier with the .44 Mag.

I've had a few Ruger Super Blackhawks. The one I have now I could shoot 2" groups at 100 yards with cast bullets back in 1985. (Laying on my back and using my leg as a rest.)
I love all but two of my Smiths including one I don't have anymore (57). 22's, 38's, 357's and a 41. I've had two Pinned and recessed 29's. I've had little luck getting either to shoot accurately. I sold the first one cheap. I asked S&W if I could send the one I have now in to them. They gave me a very negative answer. Now I've got that one on a local auction site (no internet sales).
I'm planning on a new Super Redhawk in 44 mag.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

Here's a 44 magnum you don't see every day. The big brother to my 401 Powermag. A Herters Powermag in 44 magnum. One of these days I'll find the 357 in like condition to round out the collection.
Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.

Very cool. I've came close on a .401 but just didn't need yet another exotic caliber. Very, very cool though. Didn't know they made the gun in 44 Mag. as well.

They made the Powermag in 357, 401 and 44. Not the prettiest girl at the dance but they are well made and strong.
