I like them both but prefer the Brown.

I'm with Bob', have to laugh at the guys that try to wear there stocks as a badge of honor.

I have both as well but prefer the Mcmillan Edge, it just fits me better. Just shows how there is no substitute for handling them since others on this thread are the opposite.

In the midst of planning one last possible build(!), again.
It will be on a pre 64 (fwt)action, most likely in a Wildcat fwt stock (should finish about 22-23 ounces), with a fwt or short shanked #1 profiled 270 barrel (quite possibly a std pre 64 barrel recontoured). Same basic recipe that Bob and Rick run and really a clone of my 280 with a different stock.

I have had a few "one last build's" myself, lol. I'm liking the 1 in 9 twist Benchmark on my new 270 Win if you haven't picked a barrel yet you might consider that one or maybe even better the 1 in 8.5 they now show on their website.

gerrygoat,
My latest 270 had a 1-9 Benchmark. I too would get a 1-8.5 today.
Best barrel I have ever owned. Also have a 1-9.5 Whelen. Both are under half inch rifles.
Better than my Kreiger and Bartlien and Lilja etc.

I'm very happy with it but since I want to shoot 140's or heavier there would have been no downsides to the 8.5 twist. My 35 Whelen is also a Benchmark 1 in 12 that shoots so good it was the reason I got one for the 270 buld. Would strongly consider one like yours were I to build it today.
