Picking up a T3 Superlite next week. I plan on putting 42mm Z3 on it with either Talley LW or DNZ rings. My quetion is will low rings work with a 42mm objective on the Superlite or will I need mediums?

Lows of those two types should work. They aren't that low.

It might be pretty close but you should be OK. I have the DNZ lows on my SL 7MM-08 with a Leupold VX3 3.5x10x40 and Butler Creep caps and it fits with a little room between the cap & barrel but not a lot.

I know a Meopta 3.5-10x44 will fit on Tikka SL with low Talley LWs.
The low LWs modified by 16-bore will accommodate up to a 40mm.
I have an extra like new set of 1" Talley LW lows in matte for a T3 if you are interested.

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Here is a superlite with extra low's. The VX-2 is 40 instead of 42 but you could fit either with the low's or extra lows.

Correction....the 16-bore modified rings I have were mediums initially, once modified they are the same height as lows (.400 in.) Meopta 3.5-10x44 with lows will clear the bell but not by much- Meopta 3.5-10x44 with medium rings Leupold VX-2 3-9x40 in talley low rings

I really like the Talley LW's, and I have a 3x9 Leupold 40mm CDS exactly like the one pictured right above this post. I used Ex Low on my T3 .270 Win Stainless. I took the time to lap the rings, and no pinch marks on the scope. Lap slow and carefully, as the aluminum is much easier to take too much away if you are not careful. The T3 trigger is pretty easy to get a good crisp 2-3lb pull. You will have to take some of the metal off of the head of the bolt in front of the WOP screw. File directly in front of the WOP screw. This will let you unscrew the weight of pull screw in the trigger group. You will need to keep loosening the weight of pull screw until you find what you want and what is safe. Take care in not taking it out completely. Use the proper size allen wrench. There will be only a few threads holding the trigger WOP screw in place. BE SURE TO PUSH BOLT HOME WITH AUTHORITY SEVERAL TIMES, AND BOUNCE RECOIL PAD ON FLOOR SEVERAL TIMES. ALSO MAKE SURE SAFETY IS DOING IT'S JOB. You could use a variety of adhesives to put around trigger screw, but I have used my wife's finger nail glue to hold screws firmly in place for years. It will not be necessary to do any other adjustments. Just put enough glue to secure the WOP screw in place, let dry completely (I always set the barrel and trigger group vertical) so the glue can flow around WOP screw. Good accurate rifle, at a reasonable price, and you will not need to pay over a hundred bucks for a Timney trigger. Negatives; spare mags are expensive, and if you have grandsons they are going to want one. Good evening to all
