Looking to get a 94 for my 60th birthday.
Already have a Model 70 and a Model 97.
And I am not going to spend thousands on a 21

This is just for the fun of it and I don't hunt.

I want it to be 1950's or earlier.

I want it factory drilled for a two holed tang sight or two holes on the left side of the receiver.

.30-30 so it does not break my shoulder and I can find factory ammo.

Local gun shop has two from 1957 in excellent condition at $595.

What else would the Forum suggest ?

If it's a B-day gift, shouldn't it be the birth year?
Here's a nice '56 M-94, a little spendy but nice. Nothin wrong with those '57s you found, just a year off.

If I remember right you'll have to go '54 or newer to get factory drilled/tapped for a receiver sight. I have a 1949 model with the long forearm and personally like the look of it better than the newer ones with the shorter forearm. Mine wasn't drilled for a receiver sight when I got it but it is now. It also has sling swivel studs now so sue me. I bought it to hunt with not to look at.

Winchester began d&t the M94 for a receiver sight in 1952 in the early 1,900,000 serial # range....

congratulations Bush! i try to collect my birth year and my wifes birth year as that gives me double the argument when justifying the purchase. saves knuckle bumps on the head......... usually.

i tried to pass off a ar15 as my birth year and lo and behold the wife caught me on that one!
