22 May 69. On this date, 20 Yr Old USMC PFC (E-2) Ralford John Jackson was KIA at LZ Blaze (about five km fr Cam Lo Village), Quang Tri Province, I Corps. PFC Jackson was a 2533 Radio Telegraph Operator with H&S Co, 1st Bn, 3rd Mar Rgt, 3rd Mar Div and began his tour on 7 Dec 68. Ralford was born to Ralph & Dollie Mae Jackson on 15 Jul 48 in Keams Canyon AZ and is buried in Old Oraibi Cemetery in Oraibi AZ. He had at least two children: daughters Christine & Carla; a younger sister named Delphina, who has/had a daughter named Paulita Sue Kewanwytewa (Moenkopi Village). Panel W24, Row 76. Rest In Peace Ralford.

Thank you to William Tallas for family information. Ralford Jackson is Hopi, of the Parrot Clan. Old Oraibi Village and Lower Village of Moenkopi. He has three living brothers and four living sisters.

Why the significance to him, though? Honestly curious. The Hopi and Navaho have been incredible warriors for the US for generations, but why single out this one?

He and every other soldier/sailor/marine/airman KIA should be remembered and retold. We are blessed by his sacrifice.
