I got one to play around with it - so far it's ok for utility blade work, not sure I'd use it on a high grade knife.
Plus -
Convex edge
Fast
Easy
Lower speed - better edge
Deltas -
Belt residue ' dust (maybe because it's. New)
Belt tension and blade pressure are new variables - not so easy to control
For putting on a new edge (taking the blade down) it's a dream, for putting that final edge on with a finer grit ... It's a bit tricky.
I'm still learning.. Who knows

I use mine a lot but never on my nicer knives.
The green belts are great for axes, yard tools and mower blades.
When I die I hope I don't start voting democrat.

I really like mine. It has been a great help since I've never been that good at sharpening knives.
I have the Ken Onion Edition. I'm not sure what the difference is.

The WORK SHARP Ken Onion Edition allows (for twice the price)
-a 3/4" belt vs a 1/2",
-discrete angle adjustments (so you can grind away extra steel),
-variable speed and a roller rest for the cutting edge to ride on.
Works for those who feel it is needed, but the standard model works just fine with two angle settings. It would benefit from the wider belt, but not a show stopper.

I have the Ken Onion with the wider belts and have no complaints. I sharpen all my hunting knives with it and it's great for quickly sharpening a lot of kitchen knives. I haven't had to yet but wonder about touching up a edge in the field with a stone after putting a convex edge on with the belt.
