Lost my GSP to cancer back in November and had a deposit on a litter due next week in Maine and just found out it was a "false pregnancy" so no pup's coming.

This was Jetta as a pup and looking for this coloration.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Quail Point Kennels in Knights Ferry, Ca has a black GSP stud dog named Soldier I have one of his pups who is now 6 mos old female and she is great. Color is mainly black though with white markings on the chest. Most think she's a black lab and say " I didn't know GSP's came in black". She has high prey drive and her sister named Mesquite (now 1.5 y.o) is owned by a pro hunter named Ron. He was just filming with her look up "pheasant hunting with a bow" on you tube. He says she is awesome.

Thanks for condolences and the lead to Quail Point. I spoke
David there and he says they're expecting a litter on the ground in 2-3 weeks so he has all my info to keep me up to date.

Been going through Gun Dog Central (nice site) and have a couple of leads there. I'm finding most pups are already sold that are in a "reasonable" price range ($650-$1k).

My other issue is transporting but I did find a service called www.flypets.com and they seemed very reasonably price to transport as long as the breeder is will to help out.

Willow Creek Kennels in Little Falls, Minnesota has some very good black and white dogs. I have a two year old female out of Honker and Diva.

Jon is one of the best trainers in the industry, and he gets dogs in that people lost and trains them and then sells them ..... You can get a great dog that is ready to go.

Thanks for the pointer to Willow Creek. No pup's available as the Spring litter was sold and delivered in May.

Spotshooter, Thanks for the lead but looking for a pup. I checked Jon's website and he had no pointers to puppies just older dogs ready for new homes.

Leo's pups are pricey and he ships by air.

I have a 4 year old female. Last year I hunted her over 100 days. She is a sweet heart that likes to sleep in bed with me.

They have several Black GSPs. I had a solid liver pup from a litter in 2010 who was very promising before getting hit and killed. My best friend had a black female from the same litter. Great dogs, high drive.

I would also call Sorghum Mills Kennels (OK), my current dog, a solid Liver male (4 y/o) came from them and he has been awesome. Slightly lower gear than most GSPs and works a little tigher which is fine by me. They only breed once a year.


Both kennels should be in your price range.

Thanks for the lead to Blue Dawn. Unfortunately our hearts are set on another Black GSP but I've seen and been offered some real quality Liver color variations of pup's.

Well after a long search and help from from members here along with all the breeders I spoke to I finally found breeder in Michigan with availability and have received my Female Black & Roan GSP which we've named Miaya. She's just over 8 weeks and won everyone's heart over immediately and now my biggest problem is I'm having a hard time from people wanting to keep her once they see and hold her.

Again, thanks to all who tried to help as it was greatly appreciated. Below is a picture of Miaya on the day I received her.

There's nothing better than a new shorthair pup. I think I need one myself, but my wife thinks our 6 year old is enough.

Thanks all. She's been a bundle of joy and a total surprise as I never told anyone she was coming so many tears of joy and love were shed upon her arrival.

Been sleeping through the night since the second night of arrival and very few "accidents" in the house. More of getting everyone to be aware of house training and her signs of needing to head outside for relief.

Since receiving her I've com across additional leads of Black coloration in both Female & Male pup's if anyone is considering a new addition to their family.
