I made a portable shooting bench topped with 1 1/8" OSB years ago. It has had the top sanded and refinished a couple times in the last few years. All the rain the last 2 years and it was starting to delaminate and the edges were swelling up again, so I decided to fix it. I re-cut the bad edges off the wood and sealed the chit outta it, got a scrap of Corian big enuff to cover and screwed it on. It otter hold up better now.....

Looks good. The storage underneath is an excellent idea too, though I'm not sure I'd want the rifles pointing at me. A good place to put cleaning gear, spare rounds, spent brass and other stuff to get them out of the way.

I am very jealous of you guys that can go out and shoot on public land at will. My range memberships cost me $650 annually.

R28, I don't have to bump heads with idiots on public land. The bench is sitting on my front porch right now. Steel to 800, and can go as far as I want in the wheatfield.

Looks great! Corian is some awesome stuff and sure isn't cheap. But if you know what you're doing you can make all kinds of things out of it.

Looks nice. Might be a little slick, though.
Nothing a few swipes of 100 grit wouldn't fix, I'm sure.

Great looking spread, too.

It's pretty neat stuff. You can heat it up and bend it. Glue different colors together to make stripes. I worked in a shop that made custom Corian counter tops for a few years.

Don;
Thanks for sharing the photos of your "new and improved" bench with us sir - it is very cool indeed. cool

While I'd spent half a lifetime in the cabinet industry, it's only been the last couple years that I've been learning the many uses of Corian.

I now have to find some white stuff back at the shop.... wink

Thanks again for sharing your skills with us Don and all the best to you this summer.

Dwayne
